Referral rewards: $250 to say thank you
Most of our work comes from neighbors telling neighbors. When you send someone our way and their job is completed and paid in full, we pay you $250.
Why we do this
Golden Rule is a local company. We're serving our community with the Golden Rule in mind, and the best way to find the people who need us is through the people who already know us.
The reward is $250 for each qualified referral. It is the same amount for everyone and is not negotiated case by case. Golden Rule pays it, by check or ACH, after the job you referred is completed and paid in full.

How it works
Tell us
Send us your details and the owner's name, property address, and best way to reach them. Please ask them first: you confirm they have agreed that we may contact them.
We reach out
We contact the owner by phone or email. We send no text messages until the owner agrees to receive them. We tell them in writing that you may receive a reward.
The job is done
If the owner hires us, the reward is earned once the work is completed and the contract is paid in full.
We pay you
We pay the $250 by check or ACH within 30 days after the job is paid in full. We never pay in cash.
When a referral qualifies
Who can refer
Anyone 18 or older, including past customers, neighbors, landlords, and business contacts.
You refer first
We receive your referral before the owner first contacts us, or we contact them, about that property.
A new property to us
The property is not already an open lead or customer of ours, and was not one in the 12 months before your referral.
Signed within 12 months
The owner signs a construction contract with Golden Rule within 12 months of your referral.
Completed and paid in full
The work is completed, the contract is paid in full, and the contract was not cancelled.
First referral counts
If more than one person refers the same property, only the first referral we receive qualifies.
Referral questions
Does the person I refer get a lower price?
No. Their price is the same either way. The reward comes from us, as a thank-you to you.
Can the reward go toward my own job?
No. We pay it to you separately, by check or ACH.
Does everyone qualify?
Most people qualify. However, a few people can't receive a reward. Click here for our referral terms.
Is there a limit?
No. There is no limit, and you'll keep receiving payments as your referrals' jobs are completed and paid. If you refer more than eight jobs in one year, we may need some additional information from you. Contact us for more information.

Is the reward taxable?
It may be taxable income to you. Once the rewards we pay you in a calendar year reach the IRS reporting threshold (currently $2,000, which is eight referrals), we'll ask you for a Form W-9 and send you a Form 1099. Ask your tax advisor how it applies to you.
What should I say when I recommend you?
Just tell them about your experience. Please don't make promises, quote prices, or discuss insurance coverage for us. If you recommend us in public, for example on social media, say that you may receive a referral reward.
Does referring make me part of Golden Rule?
No. Referring someone creates no employment, agency, or partnership with Golden Rule.
Can the program change?
We may change or end the program. A change applies only to referrals received after it is posted. Referrals received before then are honored on the terms in effect when we received them.
Does the person I refer have to hire you?
No. They are under no obligation to work with us, and they can ask us to stop contacting them at any time.
